LGBTQ Counseling

Transsexual Counseling Services

Counseling and Sex Therapy for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBTQ) individuals include the same clinical and life issues as heterosexual clients, but also sexual orientation or gender identity issues that are connected to LGBTQ individuals are offered.

Regardless if you seek therapy for issues related to your LGBTQ status or not, it is imperative you feel supported and are able to speak freely in order to benefit from the therapeutic experience. This is especially true for those confronted with the double stigma of mental health issues and a LGBT orientation.

At Lake Norman Sex Therapy, I understand your stressors you have to confront, such as homophobia, transphobia, societal discrimination/prejudice, coming out, and negotiating family relationships.  I specialize in working with the LGBTQ community clientele and can offer some much-needed support and healing you are in search of.

The journey of embracing a sexual identity or gender identity can be challenging. Therefore, you might wish to have some support directly addressing areas specific to the LGBTQ population. These areas could include, but are not limited to:

  • Questioning Sexual and Gender Identity
  • Preparing/Navigating the Journey of Transition
  • Navigating the Coming Out Process
  • Coping with Societal Discrimination/Prejudice
  • Parenting Skills and Support
  • Parents of Children who are Coming Out
  • Same-Sex Parents Raising Children
  • Locating Specific Services and Resources
